Gettin Sketchy – Season 16

Gettin’ Sketchy Live is an original live broadcast. The goal is produce a sketch within 45 minutes while providing art instruction and entertainment. In this season, Ashley and Matt choose their own subjects and media.

Episode 1: Snow Boarder

In this live drawing lesson, Ashley has 45 minutes to draw a snowboarder with pastels. Watch and learn as the drawing develops – from initial sketch to polished sketch with pastels.

Episode 2: Duckling Drawing

In this live drawing lesson, Matt has 45 minutes to draw a duckling with markers and pen and ink. Watch and learn as the drawing develops – from initial sketch to polished sketch with markers.

Episode 3: Knight’s Helmet

In this live drawing lesson, Ashley has 45 minutes to draw a knight’s helmet and gear. Learn how to draw with white charcoal on black paper and create the illusion of metal as the sketch develops live.

Episode 4: Lemons

In this live drawing lesson, Matt has 45 minutes to draw lemons with pastels. Learn how to use soft pastels to build color and depth in a drawing.

Episode 5: Penguin Drawing

In this live drawing lesson, Ashley has 45 minutes to draw a penguin with pastels. Learn how to draw the basic forms of the penguin before layering pastels to build up the illusion of light and form in the drawing.

Episode 6: Cat Drawing

In this live drawing lesson, Matt has 45 minutes to draw a black cat with charcoal. In this lesson, white and black charcoal are used together on gray paper to develop the drawing.

Episode 7: Roman Columns

In this live drawing lesson, Ashley has 45 minutes to draw a landscape that features Roman columns with graphite pencils on white drawing paper. In this lesson, this complex landscape is simplified to create the illusion of space and depth.

Episode 8: Pastel Landscape

In this live drawing lesson, Matt has 45 minutes to draw a landscape that features a small stream of water surrounded by tall grasses with pastels. In this lesson, pastels are layered to build depth and bold color.

Episode 9: Gorilla

In this live drawing lesson, Ashley has 45 minutes to draw a gorilla with pen and ink on white paper. In this lesson, pen and ink applications gradually develop the form and texture of the animal.

Episode 10: Piece of Candy

In this live drawing lesson, Matt has 45 minutes to draw a piece of candy with markers and colored pencils on white marker paper. After drawing the contours with pencil, marker layers build up the foundation before colored pencils are added to develop details.

Episode 11: Season 16 Review and Critique

In this live drawing broadcast, Matt and Ashley review and critique the 10 drawings and paintings that were created during Season 16 of Gettin’ Sketchy.
